DMG Architecture is proud to have been part of the team to deliver the Monarc Apartments in Highgate, which received an award at the recent UDIA (WA) Awards for Excellence. The project, entered by developer Blackburne Property Group (http://www.blackburne.com.au/) was awarded joint winner in the Medium Density Development category.

Working seamlessly with Blackburne, DMG Architecture designed the 18-million dollar project in concert with the City of Vincent’s Design Advisory Committee and Mayor Alannah MacTiernan.

The building has exceeded all expectations. Monarc’s 67 apartments are spread over five levels with a basement level for storage and parking. South-facing apartments enjoy panoramic city views. North-facing apartments vista over Forrest Park. An energy-efficient passive solar design floods the interior spaces with natural light and cross-ventilates maximum air flow through use of a central courtyard design. Rare feats for a residential development this size.

Innovative vertical gardens and a four-storey central courtyard are striking features of the building’s design, which have impressed buyers and translated into solid sales off the plan.
